CSB Program Areas
1/ CAPACITY BUILDING
CSB believes that CSOs must develop, implement and sustain their own solutions to problems in a way that helps them shape and exercise control over their physical, social, economic and cultural environments.
By building the skills and confidence of individuals and CSOs, and expanding the leadership base, CSB will help civil society implement practical strategies for creating positive change.
Through its program of CSO clustering, incubation and acceleration, CSB seeks to create an effective, expanding, diverse, inclusive civil society sector that is more able to solve societal problems.
Through building civil society awareness and education, CSB will foster a strategic community agenda, a shared understanding and common vision for the future.
2/ GOVERNANCE AND PARTICIPATION
Civil society organisations (CSOs) across the world are being asked to be more and more transparent and demonstrate their accountability, transparency and legitimacy. It is important that CSOs are seen as legitimate and credible actors in the public sphere, so that they can play a central role in supporting healthy democracies.
CSB seeks to enact a workable, effective and inclusive CSO Bill to energise civil society. It is also CSB's intention to implement a system of self-regulation to provide greater legitimacy, transparency and accountability for CSOs and give them the space to demonstrate their competence in self-management and accountability to their stakeholders. CSB believes in good governance practices and is a signatory to the Caribbean Policy Development Center (CPDC) Code of Conduct and Ethics.
