Do you feel passionate about the non profit sector and its important work?

Do you have a particular skill set or talent that may align with one of our committees?

The work of Civil Society Bahamas is largely done by the following six standing committees and their respective subcommittees.​

Each committee is led by a Committee Chair, or Co-Chairs. Committee members are appointed by the Board of Directors for a one-year term. Members can request to be appointed to further terms. Requests are reviewed by the Chair and decisions are made by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will review applications and make appointments on a rolling basis.

The purpose of the Governance & National Affairs Committee is to be responsible for the CSB Bylaws, and policies and procedures.  The Committee shall also inform the Executive Board of issues of national import and to suggest national topics for CSB to address.  It shall attend Parliament, and report on parliamentary issues, meet with the Government and lobby on behalf of the members of CBS, for social, cultural, and economic change.

The purpose of the Finance Committee is primarily to provide financial oversight for the organization to include budgeting and financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.

The purpose of the Membership and Education Committee is to attract members to the CSB, to orient all new general members, committee members, and potential Board members in the vision, mission, and goals of CSB and to inform them of the requirements of the various committees. The committee is also responsible for developing training opportunities for the Board, members, and volunteers.

The purpose of the Public Relations and Marketing Committee is to be responsible for the PR and Marketing of CSB, to promote and market all CSB events across the National Press, TV and social media. The Committee shall organise all press conferences, workshops, and symposiums, and be responsible for generating and dispensing all press statements and press releases.

The Fundraising Committee is responsible for overseeing CSB's overall fundraising effort, to lead the Board in efforts that attract money and services needed to carry out CSB's mission, and to work with staff to establish a fundraising plan that incorporates a series of appropriate vehicles, such as special events, direct mail, product sales, and other activities to achieve its fundraising goals.

The purpose of the Research & Public Policy Committee is to be responsible for the establishment of a public policy analysis and development process, the identification of key policy initiatives for CSB to be involved in, and the production of public policy statements, submissions, articles, research proposals and other related outputs in furtherance of the same.

FOOD.png

The purpose of the Food Cooperative Committee is to be responsible for assessing the current situation of food cooperatives in The Bahamas in terms of historical development, identifying existing obstacles and challenges, mapping existing food cooperatives in The Bahamas, analyzing the existing rules and regulations regarding food cooperatives in The Bahamas, analyzing needs and gap for the development of food cooperatives in The Bahamas, providing support, technical knowledge and a road map for setting up food cooperative (start-ups) to relevant stakeholders, providing support in terms of training to the existing food cooperatives for capacity building, identifying possible business development opportunities for the existing food cooperatives.
